Former CBS News reporter Ike Pappas died Sunday at age 75. Pappas was covering the moving of Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas police headquarters for WNEW-AM New York in 1963 following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and had just asked Oswald a question – “You have anything to say in your defense?” – when Jack Ruby stepped forward and shot the alleged presidential assassin. Pappas, who later moved to the network, was among more than 200 CBS News staffers laid off in 1987.
