Ryan Seacrest and partners Bain and Thomas H. Lee are said to be out of the picture in the contest to acquire Dick Clark Productions – and private equity company Guggenheim Partners is said to have the inside track.
DCP produces the Golden Globes award program, “New Years Rockin’ Eve,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” a Country music award program and the Miss Universe pageant, among other things.
It is being sold by Dan Snyder’s Red Zone Capital. Snyder is the owner of the NFL Washington Redskins.
According to Reuters, the price may wind up in the $385M neighborhood, up about $35M from the reported original asking price.
Clark died in April. He has not had an ownership stake in the company since 2002, although he notably continued to appear on the company’s News Years Eve program.
