On the heels of the network’s ratings success story as the fastest growing network, year over year, ION Television hits Madison Avenue, October 19-21, when it debuts its “Greenhouse on Wheels” guerilla event as part of its latest “Positively Entertaining” campaign. Primarily targeting its B2B audience, the ION branded, mobile greenhouse will travel to eight agencies (including McCann, Initiative, Mediavest and Mindshare–according to ION’s Christina Gilmartin) throughout the city this communicating ION Television’s fastest growing network message and allowing visitors to step inside the greenhouse to witness ION’s “growth” first-hand.

On the consumer front, viewers will get a chance to “experience” ION Television’s growth when the traveling greenhouse makes a stop in the Flatiron district 10/21, from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM. While stationed there, ION will partner with Citadel Broadcasting’s WPLJ-FM NY for a rock climbing contest with pre-selected contestants, awarding the winner a “Positively Entertaining” getaway.

Promoting the network’s growth on a more grassroots level, ION Television will give back to the community and support New York City Public School physical fitness programs by inviting students to attempt the rock climbing wall. For every student who successfully reaches the top of the wall, ION Television will donate $500 towards their school’s physical fitness department.

“As a result of ION Television’s programming expansion initiatives, the network has experienced incredible growth. This is the opportune time to effectively communicate our success story to our audience,” says Chris Addeo, Vice President, Marketing, ION Media Networks. “We believe ION Television’s ‘Greenhouse on Wheels’ is a fun, interactive and compelling marketing plan that will target not only our B2B audience, but our viewers as well – letting everyone know that ION Television is Positively Entertaining.”

Kicking off ION’s marketing initiatives earlier this month was the successful launch of ION Television’s updated graphics package, on-air and online at www.iontelevision.com, and as well as the net’s trade advertising campaign.

Additionally, ION Television also launched its “Positively Entertaining” Facebook contest in October, searching for viewers with a flare for all things entertaining. Driven by its popular tagline “Positively Entertaining,” the network is recruiting fans to share photos and videos of themselves via Facebook. Through 11/5, friends of ION’s Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/iontelevision) are encouraged to submit their content on the social networking site in the categories: kids, musicians, pets, Halloween costumes and wipeouts.

ION Television delivered its best season ever, growing faster year-over-year than any other broadcast or cable network, according to Nielsen Media Research. Propelled by the off-network series “Criminal Minds” and the newly acquired series “Without a Trace,” ION posted growth across all key demos, including A25-54, W25-54, A18-49 and W18-49. ION’s ratings success, from October 2009 through September 2010, registered record triple and double-digit growth in sales prime, with a +72% increase in total viewers (1,011,000 v. 588,000).
