Ion Television strikes late night success

Adding to its ratings growth story, ION Television’s recently extended schedule in the 12 AM – 1 AM hour is now ranked in the top 10 cable networks among its key demos, according to Nielsen Media Research. The general entertainment network launched the new hour of programming at the start of this year’s fourth quarter.


Sustaining the core of its sales prime audience, off-net hit series “Criminal Minds” (Mon.–Tues.) and “Without a Trace” (Wed.–Fri.) hold approximately 90% of its viewers among the network’s key demos. ION Television averages 474,000 A25-54 and 443,000 A18-49 viewers in the daypart. Additionally, ION Television ranks 5th among cable entertainment networks in the W25-54 demo, 8th in the A25-54 demo and 10th in the A18-49 demo during the hour.

ION Television recently delivered its best season ever, growing faster year-over-year than any other broadcast or cable network, according to Nielsen Media Research. Propelled by series “Criminal Minds” and “Without a Trace,” ION posted growth across all key demos, including A25-54, W25-54, A18-49 and W18-49. ION’s ratings success, from October 2009 through September 2010, registered record triple and double-digit growth in sales prime, with a +72% increase in total viewers (1,011,000 v. 588,000).
