Jack Sander re-elected board chair at BMI

Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) reported the election results from its annual shareholder meeting Tuesday (10/19) in Nashville. Jack Sander, former Vice Chairman of Belo Corporation, was re-elected as Chairman of the board of directors.


Cecil L. Walker, former Chairman & CEO, Gannett Broadcasting, was re-elected Presiding Director. Both will serve one-year terms.

Joining the Board are Michael J. Fiorile, Vice Chairman and CEO of Dispatch Broadcast Group and President & COO of The Dispatch Printing Company; and Mark P. Mays, Chairman and CEO of Clear Channel Communications.

Re-elected as members of the Board were Catherine L. Hughes, Founder & Chairperson, Radio One; and Jerome L. Kersting, President, Tribune Broadcasting Company.

Fiorile, Hughes, Kersting and Mays will serve terms that will expire in 2014.

BMI is an American performing right organization that represents more than 475,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in all genres of music and more than 6.5 million works. It collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it then distributes as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
