‘Jay Leno‘ has best Friday in 11 weeks

From 10-11 p.m. ET, “The Jay Leno Show” averaged a 1.5/5 in adults 18-49, a 1.9/6 in adults 25-54 and 5.8 million viewers overall.  Competition in the time period included CBS’s “Numb3rs” encore and ABC’s “20/20.” 


This is “Jay Leno’s” top Friday rating in 18-49 in 11 weeks (since September 25) and biggest overall Friday audience in seven weeks (since October 23).  In the time period, “Jay Leno” ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers and #1 among all key adult-male demos — men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54.

Versus the prior Friday, “The Jay Leno Show” was up 25% in 18-49 rating (1.5 vs. 1.2), up 27% in 25-54 rating (1.9 vs. 1.5) and up 25% in total viewers (5.841 million vs. 4.680 mil).

Comparisons with Jay Leno’s 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” are: in adults 18-49, 1.5 vs. 1.4; adults 25-54, 1.9 vs. 1.8; and total viewers, 5.8 million vs. 5.1 million.  Comparisons with NBC’s Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the 52 weeks prior to Jay’s debut are: in adults 18-49, 1.5 vs. 2.2; adults 25-54, 1.9 vs. 2.7; and total viewers, 5.8 million vs. 6.9 million.

For the week of November 16-20, “The Jay Leno Show” is currently reporting its best weeklong averages in 18-49 and total viewers (1.7 rating in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) in 10 weeks, since the week of September 28-October 2 (pending updates, includes preliminary Friday results).

NBC is #1 for the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key ratings categories.
