"Jay Leno" matched its top Friday rating

At 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of  “Law & Order” (1.2 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the major networks in the time period in 18-49, total viewers and other key categories.   


At 9 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.3/4 in adults 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) won the time period in total viewers and was #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and other key demos. 

From 10-11 p.m. ET, “The Jay Leno Show” averaged a 1.4/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.9/5 in adults 25-54 and 5.6 million viewers overall.  Competition in the time period included CBS’s “Numb3rs” encore and ABC’s “20/20.” 

“Jay Leno” matched its top Friday rating in 18-49 in 12 weeks (since September 25).  In the time period, “Jay Leno” finished #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers and ranked #1 in men 18-34 (tie), men 18-49 and men 25-54.

This marks the seventh consecutive night that “The Jay Leno Show” has out-delivered a competing drama in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers, dating back to a win over ABC’s “Private Practice” encore on December 10, followed by finishes ahead of CBS’s “Numb3rs” rebroadcast on December 11, ABC’s “Castle” encore on December 14, ABC’s “Forgotten” rebroadcast on December 15, ABC’s original “Eastwick” on December 16, ABC’s “Private Practice” encore on December 17 and a “Numb3rs” encore on December 18. 
Comparisons with Jay Leno’s 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” are: in adults 18-49, 1.4 vs. 1.4; adults 25-54, 1.9 vs. 1.8; and total viewers, 5.6 million vs. 5.1 million.  Comparisons with NBC’s Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the 52 weeks prior to Jay’s debut are: in adults 18-49, 1.4 vs. 2.2; adults 25-54, 1.9 vs. 2.7; and total viewers, 5.6 million vs. 6.9 million.

For the week, “Jay Leno” matched or beat recent 18-49 results on four of five nights.  Monday’s “Jay Leno” hit a nine-week high, Wednesday’s edition matched a nine-week high, Thursday’s telecast achieved a nine-week high and Friday’s edition matched a 12-week high.. 

NBC is #1 for the night in total viewers.

In Late-Night Local People Meters Friday night:

Conan O’Brien (1.1/4 in 18-49 in local people meters) defeated CBS’s LATE SHOW (0.7/3) in Nielsen’s 24 local markets with People Meters

At 12:35 a.m., Jimmy Fallon (0.5/3 in 18-49 in local people meters) trailed CBS’s LATE LATE SHOW (0.6/3).
