In a sign that the provider of 24/7 programmed music formats to small and medium-sized markets is growing, Michigan-based Local Radio Networks (LRN) has added a second VP of Affiliate Sales.

It’s choice to work alongside VP/Affiliate Sales Donna Halverson is a season media buyer and sales professional who returns to broadcast media after a four-year absence.

Taking the co-VP/Affiliate Sales title is Jim Ortega. He, like Halverson, reports directly to President/CEO Steve Swick.

“Jim’s background gives him a clear understanding of how to help local broadcasters maximize the benefits of LRN’s 24/7 music formats and our proprietary Radio Velocity Control (RVC) system,” Swick said. “I am delighted to welcome him to our growing team.”

Ortega added, “The team that Steve is assembling at LRN is top-notch, and its innovative Radio Velocity Control (RVC) system has revolutionized local control of 24/7 music format broadcasts. I’m very excited and honored to be a part of this forward-thinking company.”

A seasoned radio professional, Ortega has been a Media Buyer for Campbell Mithun and from 2000-2009 was a Media Broker for Satterfield & Perry.

Overlapping that was a run from January 2006-January 2011 as a Denver-based Regional Manager for Dial Global. This was followed by a stint as an AE for CBS O&O KCNC-4 in Denver.

From 1988-1992, he was an account executive for WGN-AM in Chicago.

Ortega will be based at LRN’s new programming and operations center in Denver.
