Gary Weiss, RVP, Radio One Raleigh/Charlotte Region, says Joe Zingale, Bob Weiss’s (Gary’s father) and Norman Wain’s former partner years ago in the company they had that founded the famous WIXY 1260 and WDOK (“Stereo 102”) in Cleveland passed away 3/10 in Cleveland after a long battle with Parkinson’s: “After selling WIXY and WDOK to Globetrotter (eventually sold to Combined Communications) the three guys went their separate ways for a while. Then Bob and Norm founded Metroplex, while Joe bought into WWWE 1100 AM and WWWM 105.7 FM Cleveland with Nick Mileti (original owner of Cleveland Cavs) and Tom and Jim Embrescia. After exiting the radio business in the early 80s Joe and his wife Mary Jo went on to ownership of Villas in Tuscany, Italy as well as Olive Vineyards there. Joe was 82. Mary Jo survives him as well as 4 children and several grand-children.”
