KBTV Fox 4 scores exclusive rights for Lamar University Athletics

Lamar University and Nexstar’s KBTV-TV FOX 4 Beaumont, TX have signed a deal where FOX 4 was granted exclusive television rights for live broadcasts of select football, basketball and baseball games.


All games will air live on FOX 4, and will also include 30-minute pre- and post-game shows.  Production and on-air talent will be managed by FOX 4 with input from Lamar University athletics.  FOX 4 will also produce a 30-minute primetime special previewing Lamar’s upcoming athletic season and will also produce a post-season special. In addition, FOX 4 will feature a segment on the latest in Lamar athletics every week from August through the end of the College World Series in June on its expanded Sunday evening sports show.

The agreement, which includes a minimum three-year commitment by both parties with the option of an additional two years, calls for FOX 4 to broadcast at least three football games, four basketball games and two baseball games during each athletic year of which at least two of the football games and three of the basketball games will be away games.
