KCSC100-kW Classical KCSC 90.1 FM has new call letters–KUCO–to better reflect the partnership between the radio station and the University of Central Oklahoma, its licensee. KCSC was named for Central State College, the university’s name when the station was created in 1966.

“We have always felt that the radio station represented an important outreach to the community, and we are truly pleased that the call letter change will tie the station even more closely to UCO,” Pam Washington, dean of UCO’s College of Fine Arts and Design told the Edmond Sun.

Broadcasting from UCO’s campus, KUCO is the only locally programmed classical music station in the state of Oklahoma. No changes to the content of the station are currently planned. Through its repeater station, KBCW 91.9 FM, KUCO’s reach extends north to Enid and Stillwater, east to Okmulgee, Sallisaw and Poteau, south to Smithville, Atoka and Ada and west to Chickasha and Weatherford.
