Most politicians spend a significant amount of time – many will tell you too much time – stockpiling cash to buy airtime with an eye toward staying in office come the next Election Day. But Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) has a different goal in mind.
Kennedy is planning to retire, and is actually bought two minutes worth of time on CBS Sunday night mainstay “60 Minutes” to explain his decision to constituents in Rhode Island.
He talks about his father, the late Ted Kennedy (D-MA), discusses his own plans to exit Congress, and promises to continue work on his pet issues.
RBR-TVBR observation: Any chance other retiring politicians will follow Kennedy’s lead? Money from vanishing candidates alongside those who are active? That’s a trend we could live with. But it ain’t gonna happen.
