WASHINGTON — On July 12, the Federal Communications Commission released a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) seeking additional comment on the creation of a framework under which television broadcast stations could satisfy their children’s programming obligations by relying, in part, on special efforts to produce or support children’s educational and informational programming aired on other stations in their markets.

The Commission set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 30 and 60 days, respectively, after publication of the FNPRM in the Federal Register.

A summary of the FNPRM was published in the Federal Register on August 16. Accordingly, comments will be due on or before September 16 and reply comments on or before October 15.

Commenters should follow the filing instructions provided in paragraph 85 of the FNPRM.
