KIEFER SUTHERLAND GETS “DRESSED” UP FOR HIS VISIT TO CBS’S “LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN” WHEN HE VISITS THE BROADCAST, WEDNESDAY, JAN. 13

Actor Kiefer Sutherland gives David Letterman a surprise when he came out on the stage of the Ed Sullivan Theater wearing a dress on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN last night, Wednesday, Jan. 13.

A laughing Letterman, taken aback by Sutherland’s attire of a blue-green print sleeveless wrap dress with a long sleeved undershirt and combat boots, joked, “It’s, uh, you’re doing the remake of ‘Beverly Hillbillies?’  You’re granny?  You’re – what’s happening here?”  “Far worse than that,”

Sutherland explained, “I lost a bet.  Over the weekend, I was so sure New England was gonna win that I told a guy who used to be my friend that if New England lost, I would wear a dress on Letterman,” and then stood up and modeled his outfit to audience laughter and applause.

Letterman later joked, “You ride the subway, I’ll give you a thousand dollars.  You get on the subway like that…downtown,” prompting audience applause and laughter from Sutherland.  “I have to say,” Sutherland said, “riding the subway would be easier than what I’m going through right now.  This I think may be the most humiliating moment of my life, and I’ve had a couple to choose from.”  The entire interview with Sutherland can be seen on tonight’s LATE SHOW.

Later in the broadcast, Letterman discussed the earthquake in Haiti and the dire situation in the country, remarking that “three million people, one-third of Haiti’s population, are in need of immediate humanitarian assistance.”  He also mentioned that the World Food Programme will be sending 90 metric tons of food to Haiti and are asking for donations for its emergency operations in the country.  For information and how to donate, please visit http://www.wfp.org/lateshow.  Letterman also announced that on Tuesday, Jan. 19, Bettina Luescher, chief spokesperson for the World Food Programme, will be a guest on the LATE SHOW to talk about the situation in Haiti.

Also on the LATE SHOW tonight, Letterman continues to weigh in on the recent events in late night television, while actress Keri Russell and musical guests The HotRats also visit the program.

The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated.  Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Eric Stangel, Justin Stangel and Rob Burnett are the executive producers.
