Reality TV star Kim Kardashian is joining the cast of Lifetime’s critically acclaimed Sony Pictures Television series “Drop Dead Diva” for a multiple-episode arc. She’ll be in the season premiere when it airs this summer. Filming begins next month.

Kardashian will play Nikki, Fred’s (Ben Feldman) new love interest who partners with his ex Stacy (April Bowlby) in a new business venture. Kardashian joins an impressive list of guest stars who have appeared on “Drop Dead Diva” including Liza Minnelli, Rosie O’Donnell, Paula Abdul, Brandy Norwood, LeAnn Rimes, Elliott Gould, Kathy Griffin and Tim Gunn.

“I’m ecstatic to welcome Kim to the Diva family,” said creator and executive producer Josh Berman.  “In discussing the role of Nikki with her, I’m blown away by her smarts, sense of humor, and passion.  This series is all about reinvention and I’m so excited to see Kim ‘reinvented’ in the world of ‘Drop Dead Diva.'”

It’s not the first time that Kardashian has worked from a script as an actress. She will soon appear in director Tyler Perry’s upcoming film, “The Marriage Counselor.” Her previous scripted television credits include “CSI: NY” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

Drop Dead Diva’s third season averaged 2.3 million total viewers. Lifetime says that during the show’s run it helped propel the cable net to the #1 slot on Sundays at 9:00 pm among Women versus all basic cable networks.

Drop Dead Diva tells the story of a shallow, aspiring model who dies in a sudden accident, only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, thoughtful and plus-size attorney – Brooke Elliott.

“Drop Dead Diva” is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Josh Berman is creator and executive producer of “Drop Dead Diva,” which is also executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron of Storyline Entertainment and Alex Taub.
