Yet another news-talker adding FM: This time its Entercom’s Newsradio 980. At 2:00pm 3/30 the broadcast expands to the FM side of the dial as Kansas City’s radio news leader adds 98.1 mHz with the same call letters.

In conjunction with the move, sister station KGEX-FM 99.7 flipped to a more modern-leaning AC format that aims to score the current AC KUDL-FM 98.1 listeners. KUDL is already running liners, directing listeners to 99.7.

On KMBZ, the weekday line-up will continue to feature the personalities, shows, and info that the KC Metro has learned to trust.  Kansas City’s Morning News with EJ Becker and Ellen Schenk 5:00am – 9:00am, The Voice of Merrill 9:00am – 11:00am, Rush Limbaugh 11:00am – 2:00pm, Shanin and Parks 2:00pm – 6:00pm and  KMBZ Live with Darla Jaye 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

“This is a very exciting time for KMBZ and the Kansas City community!” says KMBZ PD Neil Larrimore. “KMBZ is Kansas City’s leader when it comes to news, information and critical thought, and this move offers the information-hungry Kansas City market one more way to connect with KMBZ in addition to the AM signal, and our comprehensive online, text and social media news product. It completes the picture. It’s a bigger, better KMBZ.”
