L.A. Chargers Make Estrella Their Hispanic Media Partner

Many people still associate the National Football League franchise with its former longtime home of San Diego. From today, Estrella Media will be doing its part to get a big chunk of Angelinos to support the Los Angeles Chargers.

On Tuesday, the company formerly known as LBI Media revealed that it has inked a multi-year partnership with the team for both audio and video coverage, en español.

The pact makes KRCA-62, the Estrella TV flagship serving Los Angeles, the official Spanish-language preseason TV home for the team.

Concurrently, KBUE-FM 105.5 & KBUA-FM 94.3 — the regional Mexican “Qué Buena” simulcast — will serve as the Chargers’ Spanish-language radio flagship across the pre-season, regular season and, if warranted, the post-season and playoffs.

Speaking for the team, President of Business Operations A.G. Spanos said, “Estrella Media is one of the largest U.S. producers of Spanish-language television content, and their vision for how they want to incorporate the Chargers across their media platforms has everyone in our organization excited. With this being a year-round media partnership that extends well beyond just executing game broadcasts, we have created an avenue to even better serve our Latino fanbase which is, by percentage, the largest in the entire NFL. While we’re extremely active with community events in predominantly Latino neighborhoods across Los Angeles and Orange counties, this partnership further ensures that our Spanish-speaking fans always feel connected to their team. We are proud and excited to welcome Estrella Media to the Chargers family.”

In addition to televising all pre-season games available to air in Southern California, KRCA-62 will offer pre- and post-game shows for the exhibition matches. During the season, a weekly Chargers series will be seen. Chargers news features will also throughout the year.

On Qué Buena, players, coaches and Chargers personalities will appear in regularly scheduled segments from training camp through the conclusion of play of each season, through playoff games.

There’s also Chargers/Estrella Media experiential sweepstakes, to be promoted across their platforms.

Estrella Media CEO Peter Markham commented, “We are excited to partner with the Los Angeles Chargers organization as their exclusive Spanish-language broadcaster and media partner. Diversity and community engagement are core values for both of our organizations, and we strongly believe this will be a great partnership. We are proud to be part of the powder blue and gold family and look forward to doing extraordinary things together for Latino Chargers fans in Southern California.”
