tom langmyerTom Langmyer has taken the role at Journal Broadcast Group’s Milwaukee Radio Operations (WTMJ-AM and WLWK-FM). The announcement was made by Journal EVP/Radio Steve Wexler, who was recently named to his current role and is stepping away from his day-to-day general manager role to focus on Journal’s 35-station radio division.

Langmyer joined Journal as VP/news/talk programming in August 2013. Previously, he was vice president and general manager of Tribune’s WGN-AM in Chicago since 2005. Before that, he was vice president and general manager of CBS Radio’s KMOX in St. Louis and served as vice president of news/talk programming for CBS Radio. He joined CBS as program director of KMOX in 1992.

He starts his new role on 2/3.

“Tom is a trusted leader with a well-known track record of success,” Wexler said. “Our radio stations are in excellent hands with Tom at the helm. Tom has already made significant contributions to our company, and I’m thrilled to have a broadcaster of his caliber running our flagship stations.”

Langmyer’s background includes consulting radio stations throughout the U.S. in a variety of news, talk and music formats as president of The Blue Water Group. He began his career at WBEN and WGR, in Buffalo, N.Y.

“Journal is focused on serving our local communities with news, entertainment and advertising solutions as a locally-driven media company,” said Langmyer. “I’m grateful to Steve Wexler for the opportunity to lead the team at the Milwaukee Radio Operations to provide value for our listeners, team partners and advertisers.”
