Larry Strumwasser is gambling on a move from the shores of Lake Michigan to the home of Red Rock Canyon, the Stratosphere and at least two IN-N-OUT Burger locations.

Strumwasser is now GM of Sinclair Broadcast Group‘s KSNV-3 in Las Vegas, the market’s longtime NBC affiliate, and KSNV-DT2, the Estrella TV affiliate for Southern Nevada; and of KVCW-33, the CW and MyTV Network affiliates in Las Vegas.

“This is an exciting opportunity to combine my diverse media sales background under a unified offering,” said Strumwasser, who joined Sinclair Broadcast Group in 2016 as GM of its MyNetwork TV affiliate WGCV-TV and The CW affiliate WVTV-TV in Milwaukee.  “I am extremely excited to be leading these stations and continuing to grow our presence in the Las Vegas market.”

Before joining Sinclair, Mr. Strumwasser spent three years as EVP/Broadcast Sales and Business Development for WorldLink Ventures. Prior to that, he was GM of Media Factor, a division of BizFi, a financial funding company that provided advertising budgets for small and mid-sized local businesses.

From 2001 to 2009, Mr. Strumwasser was President of MMT Sales, a subsidiary of Cox Communications, and prior to that was MMT’s VP/Director of Sales for the Post-Newsweek station group, from 2000 to 2001.

WVTV had been one of the stations regularly mentioned as being sold by Sinclair in order to complete its merger with Tribune Media. In Milwaukee, Tribune owns FOX affiliate WITI-6 and Sinclair has MyNetwork TV affiliate WCGV-25 and The CW’s WVTV-19.

However, Milwaukee stations are not in the Sinclair Divestiture Trust, signaling an outright sale of WCGV and WVTV to 21st Century FOX, which has been rumored or continued ownership by Sinclair following the receipt of a waiver from the FCC allowing it to control three stations in the market.
