Late-night rating against March Madness, ‘Jay Leno’ has an open lead

In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday night Jay Leno is back and on rolling. March Madness running longer is pushing CBS’s David Letterman back giving Leno open doors to Late Night.


“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” delivered a 3.6/9 in metered-market households.  Other results were: CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman” (1.6/6 with an encore delayed by basketball) and ABC’s “Nightline” (3.4/8) and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (1.5/5) in Nielsen’s 56 metered markets. 

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” earned a 1.3/6.  Other results were: “Late Show” (0.6/4 with an encore delayed by basketball), “Nightline” (1.3/5) and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (0.7/3).

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” delivered a 1.5/5 in metered-market households.  CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” is currently scored with a 1.1/5 with an encore delayed by basketball.  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” averaged a 0.7/4 in 18-49 and “Late Late Show” is currently earning a 0.4/3 with an encore delayed by basketball.

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
