Late Nights belong to NBC w/ ‘Jay Leno’ and ‘Jimmy Fallon’

NBC’s late-night lineup has delivered ratings wins for the week of May 31-June 4, with encore telecasts of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” out-delivering all cable and broadcast competition in the 11:35 p.m. ET hour in adult 18-49 viewers and total viewers.  Jay generated bigger audiences than CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman” in all key categories and topped ABC’s hour of “Nightline” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in nearly all key measures: adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; adults and men 25-54 and total viewers.
 
Most late-night shows were in rebroadcast last week and all shows excluded their Monday results from weeklong averages due to the Memorial Day holiday. 
 
At 12:35 a.m. ET, encore telecasts of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” generated bigger audiences than CBS’s mostly original “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and men 25-54.  Head to head from 12:30 to 1 a.m., Jimmy Fallon topped ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in nearly all key categories: adults and men 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and total viewers.
 
To date, Jay Leno has ranked #1 in adult 18-49 rating on 66 of 70 nights versus “Late Show” (including ties), since returning as host of “Tonight” on March 1.  In total viewers, Jay has ranked #1 on 67 of 70 nights.
 
For the week of May 31-June 4, Jay’s average 1.257 million adults 18-49 outscored Letterman’s 935,000; in total viewers, Jay’s audience of 3.446 million persons beat Letterman’s 2.904 million; and in adults 18-34, Jay’s 424,000 topped Letterman’s 258,000.  At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon’s 673,000 adults 18-49 for the May sweep topped Ferguson’s 582,000; in total viewers, Jimmy’s 1.352 million trailed Ferguson’s 1.496 million; and in adults 18-34, Jimmy’s 239,000 out-delivered Ferguson’s 196,000.
