Another upper-band FM station is exiting the world of commercial radio and entering the non-profit realm. This time, KXTY-FM Morro Bay CA is the station, headed for the University of Southern California. The station, which serves the San Luis Obispo Arbitron market, is fetching $1.2M cash for Alfredo Plascencia’s Lazer Broadcasting Corporation. USC will switch the license for the Class A on 99.7 MHz to an NCE variety, and has asked for a main studio waiver. Lazer retains a pair of FMs in S.L.O., KLMM-FM Morro Bay and KLUN-FM Paso Robles.
