Lazer raises $850K for local children’s hospitals

Money TreeLazer Broadcasting Corp.’s Spanish language stations in California and Reno, Nevada completed a 42-hour fundraising Radiothon recently benefiting local children’s hospitals with a record-setting $850,000 pledged or donated by listeners. Lazer O&Os 20 Spanish language radio stations in 11 California markets and Reno, NV. Lazer programs the top-rated Regional Mexican format known as “Radio Lazer,” the Adults Hits known as “La Mejor,” and the Traditional Mexican Ranchero known as “La Mexicana.”


The three-day Radiothon was led by the charismatic morning personality Salvador Prieto who along with Jessica Calvario started the morning shift followed by Beto “Chocomil” and Ruben “El Tarzan” along with “El Cheque” Gonzales, motivated listeners to call in during the live appeal for donations.  Also joining the team in San Jose was Ricardo Barragan “El Pollo”.  The staff of adult hits radio “La Mejor” network featuring Juan G, Johnny Boy Ramirez also participated with the radiothon. The popular on-air personalities spoke to their audience of their own experiences with family members and of the impact of having toured Children’s Hospital Los Angeles prior to the Radiothon.

The funds raised during the Radiothon are part of the national efforts by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization working with 170 local children’s hospitals.

The organization partnered with Lazer Broadcasting Corporation to produce and broadcast the Radiothon, which began on Wednesday morning (Sept. 25th) broadcasting directly from the lobby of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  On Thursday the broadcast moved to a restaurant location (Tacos El Carbon) in San Jose and on Friday at the Ramirez Twin Tigers Tae Kwon Do Academy in Oxnard, CA.  Meanwhile, local promotional staff for the station visited various local community locations for remote location broadcast reports allowing listeners to drop off donations or to make a donation pledge.
