Letterman books Obama

As the late night battle between David Letterman and Conan O’Brien continues to rage, Letterman has scored a big “get.” The President of the United States, Barack Obama, will be the sole guest on the CBS “Late Show with David Letterman” next Monday, September 21st.

It’s hardly the first time that Barack Obama has been on the Letterman show. Nearly all of the presidential candidates in the 2008 election jockeyed to hit the late night talk shows as much as possible. But it is the first time that President Barack Obama has made a live appearance on the CBS show. He did make one other late night TV appearance since becoming President, appearing on NBC’s “Tonight Show” with former host Jay Leno last March.

In fact, Obama will be the first sitting US President to appear on the “Late Show.” He’d visited Letterman six times in the past, the latest being an appearance September 10, 2008 at the height of the campaign.

The “Late Show with David Letterman” is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated.  Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Maria Pope and Rob Burnett are the executive producers.
