Lex and Terry returning to Gainesville

Dumped when the University of Florida’s commercial WRUF-FM made a surprise format flip from Rock to Country, “The Lex & Terry Morning Show” is returning to the Gainesville-Ocala market next week. United Stations Radio Networks (USRN) announced a new affiliation for the morning show with Pamal Broadcasting’s WHHZ-FM “The Buzz.”

“Listeners in Gainesville are thrilled to be able to wake up with Lex and Terry once again.   Our staff at the station is ecstatic, and with The Buzz being the one and only pure rock station in Gainesville, we’re the perfect home for Lex and Terry,” said WHHZ General Manager, Mark Leopold

USRN noted that Lex & Terry had been the dominant morning show among male listeners for a long time on WRUF-FM with eight (8) consecutive ratings reports showing them #1 among Men, 18-34.

RBR-TVBR observation: The obvious choice and a real gift from the U of F to Pamal. The lowest rated station of the four FMs in Pamal’s six-station cluster is now likely to become one of its top two, benefitting from the established morning show and no competition in the Active Rock format. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see the next few ratings books for WRUF, which is up against heavy, well-established competition in Country.
