Liberman moves into Denver

National Hispanic multimedia group Liberman Broadcasting Inc. has a contract filed with the FCC for the acquisition of KWHD-TV in the Denver CO DMA. The station is coming from LeSea Broadcasting Corporation. The seller, represented by Kalil and Co., will reap $6.5M cash for the station.

The buyer is headed by Lenard Liberman; LeSea is headed by Peter Sumrall.

The station’s digital signal is on Channel 46, and eminates from Castle Rock CO. It has a CP to move to Channel 48, good until 3/6/12.

The buy represents new turf for Liberman – KWHD will be the only Colorado entry on the company’s portfolio.

The station is carried on local cable and on the satellite DISH Network, but will have to wait a bit before pressing its right for local-into-local service with DirecTV. It will respect LeSea’s waiver of local-into-local until the next three-year cycle. Currently, LeSea’s World Harvest Network is carried on DirecTV’s Channel 367 in the Denver area.
