Liberman spins Metroplex FM to EMF

SoldNon-profit religious outfit Educational Media Foundation has another commercial band FM in its sights, and will be adding Dallas-Fort Worth to its collection of markets once its new deal with Liberman Broadcasting closes.

The station it’s planning to buy isn’t the sharpest knife in the Metroplex drawer, but it does put a primary signal over much of the market. It’s KTCY-FM Azle TX, a Class C on 101.7 MHz with 92 kW @ 2,034’. The signal is oriented to the northwest of the market. It does a good job of covering Fort Worth, but only gets roughly half of Dallas.

Liberman, headed by Lenard Liberman, will retain a television station, an AM station and three FMs in the market.

The price for KTCY will be $6M cash.

EMF, headed by Mike Novak, will apply to modify the station’s license to accommodate non-commercial operation.
