We thought The Onion had taken over the news business on Friday. First, there was an improbable story that President Barack Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize. A few hours later there was an announcement that Rush Limbaugh had been signed as a judge for the 2010 Miss America Pageant. Both, believe it or not, are true.

Limbaugh will be one of a panel of seven “distinguished judges” to help decide which of the 53 contestants will capture the Miss America 2010 title.

The announcement from The Miss America Organization noted that “The Rush Limbaugh Program” is in its 22nd year. Starting in 1988 on 56 radio stations with 256,000 listeners, it has grown to nearly 600 radio stations and an audience of 20 million.

“We are thrilled to have Rush join us for our pageant this year,” said Miss America Organization President and CEO, Art McMaster. “We know that the 2010 Miss America Pageant will be filled with new twists and exciting opportunities with him as one of our national judges,” he added.

The 2010 Miss America Pageant, which will be held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 30 and broadcast live on TLC.
