LIN MediaTelevision group owner LIN Media is using its long-term relationship with advertisers to expand its services into the mobile platform. LIN Mobile will help clients make use of mobile devices to market their wares on a national basis.

LIN is bringing in digital veteran Kevin Wassong and making him CEO of LIN Mobile, reporting to LIN’s top digital exec Robb Richter.

The idea is to leverage the company’s “50-year history and its strong relationships with local and national advertisers.” The company said that “LIN Mobile will help clients effectively market their products and services to an increasingly mobile-centric population by delivering targeted and localized media across all dominant mobile devices.”

LIN says its goal is to be multiplatform resource that can provide a unified digital media strategy for its clients.

LIN President/CEO Vincent Sadusky said, “Our investment in mobile demonstrates our commitment to responding to advertisers’ needs and providing them with the most effective marketing channels. Kevin is both a pioneer and a veteran and we are excited to have someone of his caliber advance our mobile business.”

RBR-TVBR observation: That’s what we’re talking about. This is a perfect example of taking what you know and what you have and pointing it squarely into the future, taking direct aim at the area where the explosive growth is. Hats off to LIN Media – its latest move is an example to us all.
