Local News Media Preferred By This Study’s Respondents

According to a study released today (6/12) by a programmatic ad player in the broadcast TV space, U.S. consumers harbor a greater amount of trust in their local news programming than for the national news media.


This same study also finds that TV “dominates” as a preferred local news source, with radio behind social media.


RBR + TVBR OBSERVATION (Full Text Below, for Members Only): Here’s a piece of research that the radio industry has been reluctant to digest: You’re terrible when it comes to local news. If you’ve listened to some of the News/Talk stations across the country, it’s easy to understand why TV is the “dominant” go-to source for news: The radio industry’s cost-cutting and focus on high-billing conservative yakkers was the priority, rather than informing the listener with a local news team.
