Dial Global announced that Lon Helton, host of CMT’s Country Countdown USA, Dial Global’s weekly show, has won the 2012 Academy of Country Music Award for National On-Air Personality. It is the second time Helton has won the award, taking home his first in 2009.
Helton has won the National Broadcast Personality of the Year Award from the CMS an unprecedented five times (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010). He was inducted into the Country Disc Jockey Hall of Fame on February 14, 2006. Lon has hosted Country Countdown USA since its debut in 1992, each week inviting a different top country star to co-host as they count down the Top 30 songs in the USA.
