A veteran of Spanish-language radio sales in the U.S. who most recently served as SVP and Director of Sales for Business Development at Eastman Radio has been selected to serve as SVP of Multicultural Partnerships at Katz Radio Group.

Getting the promotion is Rick Ramos, who will now report to Tucker Flood, President of Eastman Radio at Katz Radio Group.

In his new role, Ramos will oversee the creation of “dynamic multicultural audio marketing campaigns with national scale and local execution” across all of Katz audio partners, which include Univision’s Uforia radio station group, Urban One’s Radio One arm, and Entravision.

Ramos will also continue to lead advocacy efforts for multicultural advertising and further develop relationships with marketers and agencies, Katz says.

In addition, Ramos will manage the development of a multicultural marketing mentoring program, with the mission “to showcase the radio industry and motivate young multicultural professionals to consider careers in marketing and advertising.”

Katz Media Group CEO Mark Gray called Ramos “exceptional at educating marketers on how best to reach and connect with multicultural consumers through audio campaigns.”

Ramos added, “Over my career, I believe there is no better time than now to be part of multicultural advertising. We are at the inflection point of minority consumers becoming majority consumers. I am passionate about helping advertisers reach the diversified consumer marketplace in a meaningful way.”

Ramos’ experience in Hispanic radio dates to the days when Tichenor Broadcasting and Hispanic Broadcasting Corp. were among the biggest players in the industry, along with Spanish Broadcasting System. His resume includes stints as New York Sales Manager of Katz Hispanic Media; Vice President Regional Sales Manager of HBC National Sales; and Vice President of Univision National Sales.

Ramos is a past winner of the Medallas de Cortez Award for Marketer of the Year, honoring his excellence in all areas of Hispanic Radio.  He is also a member of the Hispanic Audio Alliances and RAB Multicultural Committee.
