Lotus expanding with California AM DIY project

SoldThe geographical footprint of Lotus Communications is expanding, and if all goes according to plan, the CP it is acquiring will expand from its current projected contour as well, taking it into Sacramento CA.

The CP is coming from Tom F. Huth. It’s a Class B on 890 kHz, licensed for 350 W-D, 250 W-N, DA2 out of Olivehurst CA.

Lotus, headed by Howard Kalmenson, is paying $700K cash for it.

Both parties will work to earn an FCC grant for a CP that will up the power to10 kW-D and 480 W-N. The station, oriented toward Yuba City CA as licensed, would add territory to the south, including the aforementioned California state capital of Sacramento.

Lotus has no stations in that market at present. It does have a presence to the east of Sacramento in Reno NV.

The CP for the station was granted to Huth about a year and a half ago, on 6/7/11.
