Louisiana station brings $10M

KAQY-TV Columbia, LA is a relatively young station, having signed on in 1998 to bring the ABC network back into the Monroe, LA market. Now Charles Chatelain’s Monroe Broadcasting is selling the station to Parker Broadcasting of Louisiana LLC, headed by President Barry Parker, for $10 million in a deal brokered by CobbCorp. Parker will put it in a shared services agreement with Hoak Media’s KNOE-TV, the market’s CBS affiliate, which also has The CW on a DTV multicast channel. KAQY currently operates on Channel 11, but it is also allocated Channel 11 for its DTV assignment, so it will be making a total switch-over next February.
