Two Hispanic media veterans have been appointed to key roles at the NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo station serving Central Florida.

Starting today, Luis Roldan is President/GM of WTMO-CD 31 — the Class A operation serving as Orlando’s home for Telemundo programming.

Concurrently, Roberto Vizcon will serve as VP/News for the station.

For Roldan, he oversees all operations of the station including news, sales, marketing and promotions, technology, digital and community affairs — reporting to Telemundo Station Group President Manuel Martinez.

He succeeds Alex Sánchez, who departed along with former news director Gilberto Companioni in late March.

Vizcon will report to Roldan.

Martinez said of Roldan and Vizcon, “Luis and Roberto are local broadcast veterans. Their strong work ethic and proven track record of helping local stations achieve revenue and ratings success while reinforcing internal teams, will help WTMO reach new heights.”

Both Vizcon and Roldan have worked for Telemundo O&Os WKAQ-2 in San Juan, WNJU-47 in New York and WSCV-51 in Miami.

Roldan started his career at WNBC-4 in New York in 1982 as an AE and has held stints at SBS’s MegaTV in Puerto Rico (in 2008), and at the former MundoFox.

Vizcon’s resume includes roles at Univision O&Os WLTV-23 in Miami and WLII-11 in San Juan, and in English-language media at TEGNA-owned WUSA-9 in Washington, D.C., and WINK-11 in Fort Myers-Naples.

Vizcon is very familiar with WTMO — he was the station’s GM from 2004-2007.

While at WTMO, Vizcon helped the station successfully launch two local newscasts. Vizcon will relocate from Miami to Orlando.
