Lyla Geller — mother of media consultant Valerie Geller (Geller Media International President) — passed away on 1/13. She was born on 8/10/27 and earned her degree from the Los Angeles Center for Early Childhood Education.
She volunteered in many capacities and especially enjoyed her work in the libraries teaching adults to read and reading and performing stories to children. Lyla loved folk arts and crafts, and was a talented poet, writer and storyteller. Several of her short stories were published in the anthology “Patchwork of Life – A Quilt of Stories.”
For several years, Lyla volunteered at the Suicide Prevention Center in LA. Along with her late husband of 57 years, Dr. Fred M. Geller, she traveled the world. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family, following a short illness.
