M and M buying AM on the move

KENA-AM is licensed to Mena AR, a town south of Fort Smith AR, and its signal gets it to Ft. Smith, but not with as much force as might be desired. However, the CP it holds should change all that, for the benefit of a new licensee.

The station is going to M and M Media LLC, headed by Elvis L. Moody and Norman McChristian. They are paying $70K cash to take over the station.

The seller is Jay Bunyard’s Ouachita Broadcasting Inc.

The station has 1 kW-U off a non-directional antenna, at 1450 kHz on the AM dial. When it completes its CP, it will have the same 1 kW whether or not the sun is up, but it will boast new geographical coordinates and a key change in its city of license. It will be in licensed to Fort Smith proper.

The station is said to be doing business as “Good News 1450” with a Gospel format.
