In this opinion piece, the author says the broadcast incentive auction is scheduled to kick off at the end of the first quarter of 2016. If all goes well, there will be reason for celebration for the broadcast and wireless communities and for the American public.
But will the FCC “screw the pooch,” as the Mercury astronauts used to say? This is quite possible, primarily via the FCC’s plan to shut down or marginalize some broadcasters who hold FCC licenses.
