March Madness ratings up for CBS

Saturday’s NCAA Tournament Semi-Finals games gave CBS an easy win in primetime and posted ratings up 7% from a year ago. CBS can hope for more strong numbers from last night’s championship game pitting Michigan State against North Carolina. Those ratings numbers should be out today.

With the back-to-back games running 8-11 pm, CBS attracted 13.9 million viewers. The broadcast drew a 9.0 Household rating and an 18 share, up from 8.4/16 a year ago.

The first game, which saw Michigan State defeat the University of Connecticut, was up 12% from last year’s UCLA-Memphis game at 8.7/18. The later game, where the University of North Carolina defeated Villanova, was up 2% from last year’s Kansas-North Carolina game at 9.3/17.
