Marconi winners announced in Austin

Winners of the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Awards were announced Thursday night at the annual NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show during the NAB Radio Show in Austin.


Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.

This year’s NAB Marconi Radio Award recipients are:

Legendary Station: WSM-AM Nashville

AC Station of the Year: WTMX-FM Chicago

Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year: Glenn Beck, Premiere Radio Networks

CHR Station of the Year: KHKS-FM Dallas

Major Market Station of the Year: WMAL-AM Washington

Country Station of the Year: WFMS-FM Indianapolis

Large Market Station of the Year: KOA-AM Denver

News/Talk Station of the Year: KFI-AM Los Angeles

Medium Market Station of the Year: WLAV-FM Grand Rapids, MI

Oldies Station of the Year: KQQL-FM Minneapolis

Small Market Station of the Year: WGIL-AM Galesburg, IL

Religious Station of the Year: WMIT-FM Black Mountain, NC

Major Market Personality of the Year: Ryan Seacrest, KIIS-FM Los Angeles, CA

Rock Station of the Year: WAPL-FM Appleton, WI

Large Market Personalities of the Year: Kelly, Mudflap & JoJo, KYGO-FM Denver, CO

Spanish Station of the Year: KSCA-FM Los Angeles

The NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show was hosted by Billy Bush, host of Westwood One’s "The Billy Bush Show" and co-anchor of “Access Hollywood.” The show also featured performances by John Arthur Martinez, Sarah Pierce and Seth Walker, three talented artists from the Austin music community.
