MIAMI — The news division of Univision Communications has promoted its VP of News Gathering for Univision News to the role of SVP/Executive News Director.
In this expanded role, María Martínez-Guzmán will head programming efforts for all daily Univision Network news properties, including the flagship newscast “Noticiero Univision” in its three editions (evening, late night, and weekend), the midday newscast “Noticiero Univision Edición Digital,” the newsmagazine “Primer Impacto,” the morning show “Despierta América,” and the entertainment show “El Gordo y La Flaca,” as well as the Sunday morning political show “Al Punto.”
Executive producers for each of these news programs will now report directly to Martínez-Guzmán, while she will report to Univision News President Daniel Coronell.
Martínez-Guzmán joined the Univision family in 2002 after spending five years as News Director for Univision affiliate KNVO-48 in the Rio Grande Valley. She has held her previous role since 2016.
