U.S. CongressThis Friday, the Communications and Technology Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee plan to hold a hearing on broadcast media ownership.

One in a series of such hearings, lawmakers will discuss the state of today’s media marketplace, existing rules that limit joint ownership of broadcast and newspaper outlets, and barriers to entry for businesses owned by women and minorities.

Representatives from NAB, MMTC, the Newspaper Association of America, the National Hispanic Media Coalition, Digital Content Next and Common Cause are expected to testify.

RBR+TVBR observation: The last category should be interesting, given all the lobbying going on to get the FCC to include an AM-only window to apply for FM translators in its AM revitalization order.
