Meet the rookies, the sequel

The two newest FCC commissioners, Mignon Clyburn and Meredith Baker, just had their coming out parties at the 8/27/09 FCC Open Meeting for August. Now comes word that they’ll be mixing it up with the radio professionals attending this year’s NAB Radio Show in Philadelphia.

The NAB shindig runs from Wednesday 9/23/09 through Friday 9/25/09 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Clyburn is scheduled to deliver opening remarks at a Thursday 2:00 PM session called “Changing of the Guard: How the New FCC Will Affect Your Station.” She is perhaps an appropriate pick for that duty since she is a member of the ruling Democratic majority on President Barack Obama’s first FCC.

Baker will be a featured guest – and will have to make sure her alarm clock is set — for a one-on-one interview at the FCC Breakfast on Friday, September 25 at 7:30 AM.

“NAB is honored to have Commissioners Baker and Clyburn join us at the NAB Radio Show,” said NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton. “We look forward to hearing their insight on a host of issues impacting local radio broadcasters across America.”

RBR/TVBR observation: At the FCC meeting last week, Clyburn sounded just like you’d expect a Democrat to sound, and Baker sounded just like a Republican. But don’t take our word for it. If you’re planning to be in Philadelphia you can check it out for yourself. If you can’t make it, we’ll be there to get another reading.
