MegaTV Scores A ‘Cara-a-Cara’ Chat With Trump

MIAMI — In recent weeks, the lone media sightings involving former President Donald Trump have involved coverage of his appearances at political rallies by such cable TV news organizations as Newsmax.

On Thursday, June 2, he’ll be participating in a rather notable one-on-one interview — conducted in English but shown with Spanish-language subtitles, as it is set to air on Spanish Broadcasting System-owned MegaTV.

The face-to-face interview with Trump was conducted by Tomás Regalado, the Director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB) during the Trump Administration and Mayor of the City of Miami from 2009-2017.

Before that, Regalado was renown in South Florida’s Spanish-speaking community as a political commentator, with stints as News Director for WAQI “Radio Mambí” in Miami and in the early 1970s as a TV reporter for WLTV-23 in Miami, which was a Spanish International Network (SIN) affiliate at the time and had just started its news operation.

Regalado, a Cuban refugee who came to the U.S. via “Operación Pedro Pan” in 1962, interviewed Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla.

“Mega is keeping its word of being the channel where politics is decided by offering the first interview to a national television network,” Regalado said of his exclusive post-White House chat with the former Commander-in-Chief.

“The most anticipated interview of the year” sees Regalado ask such poignant questions as, “What is wrong with America today?”; and touch on such topics as President Biden’s decision to lift sanctions on Cuba; gasoline prices; and if he is considering another stab at the White House.

The interview airs on MegaTV Thursday (6/2) at 10pm Eastern.

MegaTV can be seen on its flagship WSBS-22 in Key West-Miami; on the MegaTV affiliates serving markets including Orlando; MegaTV in Puerto Rico; and on the nationally distributed MegaTV channel found on DirecTV signal, AT&T U-verse and Verizon Fios.

Following the pre-recorded interview, Regalado will hold a roundtable discussion with analysts who will share their opinions on the issues discussed during the exclusive meeting at Mar-a-Lago.
