Melodie Wilson loses battle with cancer

Former television colleagues in Wisconsin are mourning the death of Melodie Wilson at age 59.

Wilson left an anchor position at WITI-TV (Fox) Milwaukee 10 years ago to devote her full time to After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD), which she founded after her public battle with the disease, beginning with a diagnosis in 1992. Prior to WITI, Wilson had been an anchor at WTMJ-TV (NBC) Milwaukee.

Although she successfully fought the disease for many years, the breast cancer most recently had spread to her brain. Wilson died Monday at her home in River Hills, WI, surrounded by her husband, Wayne Oldenburg, their four children and other family members.

Funeral arrangements are pending. The family, not surprisingly, asks that memorial gifts be made to ABCD.
