Exclusive: Meredith Bid For Sinclair Station Iced

0

Exactly one month ago, Meredith Corp. announced that intended to create its sixth duopoly by making an acquisition in the nation’s 21st largest TV market. This deal would pair Meredith’s CBS affiliate with a facility signed on by a local real estate developer and hotelier in 1959. The value of this transaction, the result of Sinclair Broadcast Group‘s still-in-review proposed merger with Tribune Media, came in at $65 million.

Now, RBR+TVBR has learned that the station’s sale has been scuttled, perhaps permanently based on what Meredith has to say, as the Department of Justice has denied the company the immediate right to create the duopoly.
