WOCN-AM 1450 in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood FL market has been sold. The station brings the ESPN Deportes network into the market, and is going to a company called Deportes Media LLC.

The buyer is headed by David Jacobs, who is using DM FL Licensee LLC as the station’s licensing entity. The Class C station he’s getting has 1 kW day and night on a non-directional antenna, and is very much a Miami-oriented station. Its primary signal gets up to Hollywood but doesn’t quite reach all the way to Fort Lauderdale. It extends south almost as far as South Miami Heights.

The seller is IM FL Licenses LLC, a subsidiary of Independence Media of Florida LLC. Controller Jean Reader signed off on the deal for the seller, and according to the contract, it was represented by brokerage Media Services Group.

The price will be $1.2M, all of it paid pursuant to a promissory note with a three year term.

In addition to maintaining affiliation with ESPN Deportes, the buyer is obligated to maintain a relationship with the University of Miami athletic program at least through the end of the 2011 baseball season.
