Michigan radio group expanding with DIY project

Synergy Lakeshore Licenses Inc. has a pair of stations near the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in the state of the same name. They have no contour overlap, but a third station is on its way, which will fill most of the gap and provide significant overlap with one. But Synergy will have to build it first.

The station doesn’t even have call letters yet. It’s a Class A CP earmarked for 98.7 MHz with 5.5 kW @ 342’, licensed to the community of Pentwater.

The seller is Francesca Fitch’s Lopestar Broadcasting. Buyer Synergy is primarily owned by Todd Mohr.
The price will be $34,750 cash. Lopestar acquired the CP with a gross bid of $25K and benefitted from a 35% bidding credit. Synergy will take responsibility for bringing any finding of unjust enrichment into compliance with FCC regulations.

The station, once it’s built, will overlap Synergy’s WWKR-FM Hart MI. Although the Pentwater signal will not be in any rated market, WWKR is part of Muskegon.

To the north of the Pentwater facility’s predicted contour, Synergy owns WMLQ-FM Manistee MI. The primary contours of the two stations will not quite be tangential.
