A deal struck 1/19 with MSU and Citadel’s WJR-AM Detroit will continue to give the station exclusive radio rights to MSU athletics until 2020. MSU and WJR have reportedly held a broadcast deal since 2006 that was set to expire next year, and chose to extend the agreement for another 10 years, said Mark Hollis, MSU’s athletics director.

“They’re the great voice of the Great Lakes (and) I consider us to be the university of the state of Michigan,” Hollis told State News. “If you take those two components, we’re both striving to make this a better place to live for the people that are from the state of Michigan.”

WJR would maintain the rights to athletics such as basketball and football, and MSU would be able to continue to promote the university around the state.
