Microsoft, Apple at loggerheads

It can be dangerous to mention your competitor in an ad. In this case, one company claimed to be cheaper than the other. It perhaps got a little too specific – allowing the attacked company to make the ads obsolete by simply lowering its price. According to Huffington Post, a Microsoft ad featured a mom and daughter searching for a laptop, and quoted a $2K price for an Apple model – more than they wanted to spend. Apparently Apple called Microsoft, said the ad was inaccurate because they lowered their price and demanded it be taken off air. Microsoft simply edited out references to both Apple and a specific price.

As we noted a few days ago, the COO of Microsoft was gloating over the Apple reaction.
